Jeal Computer Systems

About the client
Jeal ComputerSystems (JCS) is a software company providing management and communicationssoftware for the Motor Industry and the Food and Beverage Industry.
The challenge
JCS had an office on a top level of a building and had recently acquired another office on the level to accommodate their growing team. The two offices now occupied the entire top floor and were separated by a stair well and completely separate spaces. Having two separate offices caused productivity issues.
Also, the previous tenant of the new office was an Adult Shop so that also created security issues as previous customers were still learning that the shop had moved. JCS wanted to stop these people breaching their security.
The solution
We worked with the Sharon Jones from Accomplished Design to develop a much more efficient use of the client’s office entrance, reception and office work areas. We also created space for a new lunch room and storage room.
Careful planning was undertaken to ensure this client remained operational in both offices and productivity was not affected during all construction stages. Particularly to maintain security when demolishing the existing entrances.
The first stage was to create a single entrance to the office with upgraded security. This included creation of a new secure wall with glazed partitioning & demolition of the existing entrance doors to each office. An upgrade to the stairs for a modern look as well as from a safety aspect as the old stairs didn’t meet building code requirements for commercial spaces. A new glass balustrade was installed to complete the look.
Access control was added to the JCS existing security with key-fob timeout programming to fully control access.
The second stage of the project was to create a more efficient working space for the employees. This office includes sales, development team, customer call centre and administration staff. It was important to create areas where sound was contained. We did this by installing sound resistant walls between departments.
Apart from more efficient space, this office also needed a lunch room for the team to relax in. The old kitchenette was tiny. We created a larger space to accommodate a place to sit as well as upgraded appliances. This client is not only now secure, but much more efficient with a very staff friendly working environment and has highly professional client facing areas.
